Tom Laughren is the 17th and current mayor of Timmins, Ontario. He took office on December 7, 2006, succeeding retiring longtime mayor Vic Power.
Laughren was acclaimed to the position after running unopposed in the November 2006 municipal election. Laughren first served as a public official for Timmins as a city councillor from 1994 to 2003.[1]
Laughren is a lifelong resident of Timmins. He and his wife, Maureen, have been married for 28 years and they have three daughters together: Hillary, Elisha and Kylie.[1]

Laughren also teaches at the Haileybury School of mines, located south of Timmins in the city of Temiskaming Shores as a part-time Health and Safety instructor.
